Performance 2019
Our world, as it appears externally, has not been enough for us for a long time. While we once created our fantasy worlds in daydreams, today we have the ability to seemingly authentically experience everything we want to be and have in virtual reality. In “Die mit den Augen atmen” (Those Who Breathe with Their Eyes), Killer&Killer stage the tension between these fictional worlds and physical reality. The result is a composition of movement and animation, acting, dance, and music, where the question repeatedly arises: What is reality, really? Who is the creator of the images, and where are we? A character, suspended—alienated and disoriented—seeks what is real and human, only to encounter the boundaries of reality until these levels blur into one another. It’s like the phenomenon of white noise: in the chaos of apparent nothingness, all possibilities are hidden. "As long as it's realistic, we can believe it, and if we believe it, it has done its job, and everything that has an effect is reality."
